Sarah graduated from Dalhousie University in 2010 with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. She has had training in all areas of physiotherapy with a greater focus being in orthopaedics and Women’s Health. After graduating from Dalhousie, Sarah worked in private practice in Corner Brook for two years before opening up ActiveLife Physiotherapy and Wellness with her husband Mike in October 2012.
Sarah has post-graduate training in manual therapy, movement dysfunction, myofascial techniques, acupuncture and treatment of female urinary incontinence. Sarah's treatment includes a "hands on" approach combined with specific exercise prescription. In addition to her interest in treating orthopaedic injuries, Sarah has a passion for Women’s Health which includes pre and post-partum care, exercise prescription for expecting mothers, female urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse treatment.
Sarah hopes to improve the quality of life of women of all ages who are experiencing signs and symptoms of pregnancy-related musculoskeletal impairments, female urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Aside from her role as a physiotherapist, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband Mike and pup Ryder, along with her family and friends. Her interests include playing basketball, biking, running, hiking, skiing, cooking, baking, gardening, reading and travelling. She also enjoys volunteering her in community and within her profession to promote physical activity and wellness.

ActiveLife Physiotherapy and Wellness opened their doors to the communities of Deer Lake, Pasadena and surrounding areas in October 2012. Located in the heart of Deer Lake, ActiveLife currently offers a wide variety of physiotherapy, massage therapy, occupational therapy, dietetics as well as private counselling services. Our new, modern facility offers private treatment rooms combined with a fully equipped fitness gym providing our clients with a positive, friendly environment. For those who cannot travel to our clinic, we offer in-home physiotherapy and occupational therapy to those clients located in Deer Lake and surrounding areas. We also provide a travelling clinic to community members of Pasadena twice weekly offering a variety of physiotherapy services. Lesley Skinner, born and raised in Deer Lake, graduated from Dalhousie University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in Occupational Therapy. Lesley has had experience working in a wide variety of practice areas such as acute care, long term care, inpatient and the outpatient environment.
Currently, Lesley is working in the public sector helping people who have been injured on the job return to work safely. In this position she also completes ergonomic assessments, including workstation reviews, and participates in specialized functional capacity testing. Lesley will soon earn her Matheson Certified work capacity evaluator designation. Lesley likes to work in all areas of Occupational Therapy but she has a special interest in hand therapy and splinting.
At ActiveLife Physiotherapy and Wellness, Lesley will be completing in home assessments and ergonomic workstation assessments. She hopes to expand her practice in the future helping those in the Deer Lake and surrounding areas. Outside of work Lesley enjoys running and spending time with her family at their family cabin. Vacationing is also something she enjoys to do yearly.
Natrisha Hiller completed the Physiotherapy Assistant Program at the College of the North Atlantic in St. John’s NL in 2005. She then moved to Grande Prairie where she worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant in the public system for three years. After leaving Alberta, she also gained experience in the outpatient and inpatient setting in Clarenville, NL. Natrisha has gained skill and experience in all areas of physiotherapy. She has had the pleasure of working in all fields, including orthopaedics, neurological rehabilitation, paediatrics, long term care and outpatient physiotherapy.
In July 2012, Trisha and her family moved to Deer Lake, NL and has since joined the ActiveLife team. She has been a part of the ActiveLife team since the early stages and has played a huge role in the administration as well as clinical side of the practice. Aside from work, Natrisha enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful daughters. She also enjoys walking her dogs, reading, watching movies, cooking, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
Carmelita lives in Deer Lake with her family and is a registered yoga teacher, having completed her teacher certification with Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio in Halifax in 2011. She is presently travelling between Deer Lake and Halifax to complete her advanced Yoga Teacher Certification which should be completed in 2014.
Carmelita has been practicing yoga for close to twenty years and believes in its many healing benefits. She currently teaches gentle, beginner and intermediate classes in the Deer Lake area, including beach yoga in the summer. Here at ActiveLife, we are excited to offer Karma Yoga with Carmelita Morgan on Friday evenings as well as beginner yoga classes. As well, in Fall 2013, we will be offering a program, "Back At It" that focuses on prevention and management of low back pain through yoga and physiotherapy-guided flexibility and strengthening exercises.
Amanda graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy of Ontario in 2006 and has seven years of experience treating motor vehicle injuries, repetitive strain injuries, TMJ dysfunction, soft tissue injuries, whiplash, rotator cuff dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis and much more. She also has experience in prenatal massage, hot stone treatments, Swedish massage as well as facial and scalp massage.
Aside from working as a Massage Therapist, Amanda enjoys going to the gym, reading, camping, snowmobiling, travelling and hiking. Amanda and her husband are new to the town of Deer Lake and are sure to enjoy what the Humber Valley has to offer. We are excited to have Amanda as part of our healthcare team here at ActiveLife!

Tina graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Memorial University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University. She has been practicing since 2000 and has worked in a variety of clinical and community settings, from grocery stores to ICU.
Tina is also a Certified Diabetes Educator with the Canadian Diabetes Association. Her interests include helping others be as healthy as they can be and achieving better health outcomes through lifestyle management.

Bonnie Hancock-Moore moved to Deer Lake, NL approximately four years ago from her hometown Happy Valley, Goose Bay, NL. She is currently employed as a social worker in the mental health field; however, she has a background in child protection, youth corrections and sexual abuse/assault crisis work. Her educational background includes: A Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies from UCB in 1999; Honors Bachelor of Social Work degree from Lakehead University; and Masters of Social Work from Memorial University.
Bonnie is currently married with two beautiful children age 17 and 10. Aside from work, she loves to sing while also having a crafty hand with lots of different hobby interests. She is a deeply spiritual person, who believes in self-care and life balance. She believes that positive friends and family keep her grounded and she enjoys laughter, humor and the company of others. Bonnie feels that life events can be difficult and devastating; however, she also believes in the strength of the human spirit to endure and to rise up and overcome obstacles. Sometimes we just need to ask for help to get us through the rough times and draw our personal support systems to comfort and support us.

In October 2011, Julia graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, focus in Kinesiology at Memorial University. After working for a year as a Kinesiologist at a physiotherapy clinic in Corner Brook, she soon realized she wanted to advance her education. Julia has recently completed the Master of Science... in Physiotherapy program from Dalhousie University and plans to continue her education by taking courses and applying the most current evidence-based practice to her treatments.
Julia believes in an holistic approach to rehabilitation that focuses on education , proper movement patterns, manual therapy and exercise prescription to achieve functional outcomes. She also has a strong interest in promoting wellness in the community. Julia has volunteered at various wellness events in the community and also runs a NeuroFITT community wellness program for people with neuromuscular conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's. This program is free for community members living with these conditions and is offered twice a week and focuses on improving strength, mobility, endurance and balance.
Julia is a strong believer and an advocate for living a healthy lifestyle. Outside of work, activities she enjoys include ice hockey, volleyball, swimming and snowboarding. Julia's interest in health promotion carries over into her treatment techniques and is a great addition to the ActiveLife team.
Lynette Simon graduated from the Fisher Institute of Applied Arts and Technology Stenography and Secretarial Program in 1987. After completing the program, she moved to the Northwest Territories where she worked within her profession with the City of Yellowknife and with Giant Mine. In 2001, Lynette and her family returned to her hometown of Deer Lake where she continued to work in various administrative positions within the community. Lynette joined the ActiveLife team in January 2014 as an administrative assistant.
Lynette enjoys working with the public and being a part of a community based health and wellness team. She plays an intricate role in both the administrative as well as clinical areas of ActiveLife Physiotherapy and Wellness. Outside of her career, Lynette enjoys spending time with family and friends, cake decorating and crafting. She also has volunteered throughout the community for various charities since moving back in 2001.
Jena graduated from the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in Halifax, NS in 2010 with honours in Massage Therapy. During her studies, she specialized in the school’s Neurological clinic, facilitating individuals with various neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis. She also received certification in Aromatherapy and a form of Acupuncture known as Chinese Cupping.
Jena has spent the past 4 and a half years aiding individuals in the Deer Lake and surrounding areas with a variety ofmusculoskeletal conditions such as whiplash, tendonitis, sprains, strains, TMJ, frozen shoulder, etc. She incorporates myofascial release, stretching and strengthening techniques throughout her treatment to maximize results. She takes an active approach to therapy, having the client participate in his/her own pathway to recovery. Jena strives to promote and educate her clients on the importance of developing an active lifestyle as a vital role in injury prevention and rehabilitation. She enjoys running, hiking, fitness, and volunteering with the Deer Lake Figure Skating Club. We are very excited to have Jena as a part of our team- Welcome Jena!!
